Favre Reflects On Retirement From Training Camp (Article)

(Hattisburg, MS) Brett Favre spoke to the media Wednesday about his decision to retire from training camp two years ago. Is it hard? Sure. Do I wish I could suit up every once in a while and run some drills, yeah, but ultimately, I’m happy with the decision I’ve made and plan on staying retired from training camp. Favre was questioned about rumors concerning a possible return to training camp. “Ridiculous. Absolutely not. I am retired….from training camp.”

He continued, “I miss the guys, but I’ll have to wait ’til September I suppose. Would it be nice to bond with young players and perhaps get on the same page with my offense, of course that would be nice, but I have to face the facts that I’m a 40 year old Quarterback. What other choice do I have?”

Speculations have been made that he may retire for the regular season, he spoke to that with obvious emotion. “I know that sooner or later  I will have to retire from the regular season. Will it be hard to come into the lineup in January, sure, especially after Christmas vacation, but that’s just the natural progression of things. The time will come when I just have to say I’m retiring until the Superbowl. That time is not too far off. But for now I take solace in the fact that I get to play football come September,” He then turned to the media adding with an ironic laugh: “You know if I my leg ankle feels better.”
